Building Deeper Interconnected Communities

Queens of Colour Clothing, an independent brand based in Wolverhampton UK. Built on the principle of building the black community, supporting people with positive messages and imagery to help build people who don’t get as much help from general society. Some of the art created utilised African and Caribbean languages / dialects for example Jamaican Patois, to really connect on a higher level and to encourage people to ask questions about what certain words mean, to really start a conversation and to form more and occasionally deeper connections and impressions to the content and those wearing it.

When QOC came to me with this brief, I was more than happy to help, as positive imagery used in conjunction with positive messages are a powerful way of both connecting with people through the product and building connections between people who see these messages.

Whilst working on this project it allowed me to experiment with digital brush sets and uses of colour while also exploring deep cultural values, the mix of these things made this project so enjoyable. I look forward to working on more projects that allow for exploration like this does.

The final results are visually eye-catching, whilst making sure the over all message is bold and memorable.
